Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic is a four-player co-op game where you play four different classes of dwarves in space, mining resources while fighting hordes of alien bugs and distinct bosses using an ever-growing repertoire of weapons, perks, and skills. Oh and you do this for a giant space-mining corporation that does not care about your life but allows you to upgrade your skills and craft new weapons, making your next mining-bug-shooting-fest a bit easier.

Outer Wilds

Outer Wilds is an open-world, story-driven space-exploration game turned VR with the power of mods. Now, the following sentence will come across as hyperbole, but it is not an exaggeration. Outer Wilds is one of the best games ever made, period. Go and search for reviews and critiques, but be mindful of any spoilers, and you will find numerous gamers having had a nigh religious experience playing it.

Half-Life: Alyx

While it is not the most original choice, if by any chance you haven’t booted up Half-Life: Alyx, you should. This iconic title, part of an iconic game series, delivers a delightful 15-hour campaign in an engrossing atmosphere and a story dripping with humorous sarcasm.

We put the three biggest VR game platforms through the wringer and came out with the winner: discover the result here.

I Expect You To Die 2

Keeping the streak of non-original suggestions, I Expect You To Die 2 is if an escape room would mingle with Dark Souls in VR. As the title suggests, you are expected to die and learn from it to progress through the puzzles littered in this quirky VR game.

Walkabout Mini Golf

For something completely different, Walkabout Mini Golf is if mini golf was arcadey, whimsical, and incredibly fun. In other words, I am not a mini golf fan in real life, and yet, Walkabout Mini Golf made its way to this list.

Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners

If a tranquil experience is not for you and instead action, horror, zombie-shooting, and progressive RPG, Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is for you. With this, you are thrust into a semi-open world with multiple factions vying for control.

Microsoft Flight Simulator

MS Flight Simulator scratches a very particular itch that most people have: exploring our blue planet from the confines of a warm living room. So if you want a VR flying experience that delivers an incredible flight experience around the world combined with great management game mechanics that keeps you engaged between flights MS Flight Sim is for you.

Subnautica Below Zeo

The sea by itself is frightening: it is literally consistent upon being out of it to survive. So releasing a survival-horror game set in and around the ocean in VR, and you got an excellent VR survival game with Subnautica Below Zero.

Boneworks

The next title is the first-person shooter Boneworks and its sequel Bonelab. While the atmosphere is better on Alyx, the shooting mechanics are stellar which means you must pick this one up.

Beat Saber

We are rounding this list out with the unbeaten VR rhythm game champion, Beat Saber. I usually recommend Beat Saber to first-time VR players as it is simple but incredibly fun to the tune of their song choice.
