More Immersive Viewing Experience on the HTC Vive Focus Vision

The HTC Vive Focus Vision has a higher resolution of 2448 x 2448 versus 2160 x 2160 on the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise along with a greater FOV (field of view) of up to 120 degrees versus the Ultra’s 105. This translates to a more immersive viewing experience on the Focus Vision. The Ultra, however, will still provide a great viewing experience and uses pancake lenses which are known for providing clearer and less distorted graphics when compared to Fresnel lenses—which are used by the Focus Vision. Learn more about the differences between fresnel and pancake lenses here.

Better Passthrough on the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise

The Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise has dual 32 MP color cameras versus the Focus Vision’s dual 16 MP cameras. In practice, this means that the Ultra will provide a clearer image of the world around the user which will also serve to enhance MR (mixed reality) experiences. The Ultra’s better passthrough will also make an MR workspace experience better with the user’s surroundings being more accurately represented.

Expandable Storage on the HTC Vive Focus Vision

At first glance, the HTC Vive Focus Vision’s integrated storage of 128 GB doesn’t look too appealing especially when compared to the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise’s 256 GB; however, the Focus Vision has expandable storage of up to 2 TB using a microSD card. As such, the Focus Vision is capable of storing a significant amount of data in the form of apps and software—giving the headset more flexibility on how it’s used.

Full Body Tracking with Pico’s Motion Trackers

The Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise is capable of hand tracking out of the box compared to the HTC Vive Focus Vision’s eye, face, and hand tracking ability. However, the Ultra is compatible with Pico Motion Trackers which allow for full-body tracking. The Focus Vision has a similar capability and is able to connect with Vive Ultimate Trackers. With that said, the Vive Ultimate Trackers are significantly more expensive. As such, full body tracking is much more feasible on the Ultra.

Greater Run Time on the HTC Vive Focus Vision

Most VR/AR headsets can only run for around two to three hours before they need to be charred, including the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise. However, the HTC Vive Focus Vision has a hot-swappable battery and a mini reserve battery. This means that—while in use—the battery for the Focus Vision can be swapped out with a new one without any interruption. As such, the Focus Vision can continue running as long as there is always a battery ready to replace the old one.

Enterprise Use Cases of the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise and HTC Vive Focus Vision

The HTC Vive Focus Vision is made for both enterprise and consumer use and is compatible with Vive’s XR (extended reality) ecosystem with enterprise-level features and apps. On the other hand, the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise is primarily designed for enterprise use—having a specifically designed OS packed with enterprise features and apps. The Ultra also has great multitasking capabilities and a more powerful chip that allows it to handle demanding apps better than the Focus Vision.

Final Thoughts: Primary Differences

The HTC Vive Focus Vision is priced at around €950 versus the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise at €699. On that note, the Ultra offers great performance at a mid-range price point. The Focus Vision, on the other hand, has the advantage of having a hot-swappable battery and expandable storage, making it a solid and flexible option for enterprise environments.
