Different OS

The Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise runs on Enterprise OS which is optimized for businesses having specialized features along with apps from the Pico Business Suite which offers a number of useful tools for educational and training environments along with group collaboration.

In addition, the Pico Business Suite comes with a number of useful business apps and features such as Kiosk Mode which will automatically load a designated app on startup, and Sync which will connect multiple headsets together.

On the other hand, the Pico 4 Ultra’s OS is designed with consumers in mind with a greater focus on entertainment features and apps. Pico Connect, for example, allows for cross-screen interconnectivity between the headset and other devices such as a PC, Mac, or smartphone. This allows the user to control multiple devices remotely and create a cross-platform system for work or entertainment.

PICO Motion Trackers

While both versions take advantage of Pico’s new motion trackers which allow for full-body immersive experiences, each has their different use cases. For the Enterprise, the motion trackers are primarily for applications that can benefit from high-precision tracking such as medical rehabilitation, firefighting simulations, CPR instruction, and sports training. For the Pico 4 Ultra, the motion trackers are primarily for enhanced gaming and full-body workouts.

Enterprise Software Solutions

Pico is working on an XR (extended reality) ecosystem that is geared toward enterprise use. As such, the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise will be able to take advantage of this ecosystem which includes SDKs (software development kits) allowing for custom application solutions to be made. Additionally, the Pico Business Device Manager for the Enterprise version will allow the admin to control and configure multiple devices at once.

While the Pico 4 Ultra does not have the same capability, gamers will be happy to learn that the device integrates with SteamVR, allowing users to migrate VR games from their PC to their headset—dramatically increasing the number of VR titles available to them.

Tailored Support

Users of the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise will have access to localized support with access to customer service in multiple languages specifically geared for businesses. This support is meant to help businesses with their unique needs, from figuring out how connect a number of headsets at once to setting up an administrator. The Pico 4 Ultra, on the other hand, will have the typical consumer-friendly support options including a hotline and the ability to chat live with a customer service agent or send an email.

App Store

The Pico 4 Ultra has the Pico Store which primarily hosts apps for entertainment with over 650 VR apps and 40 MR apps—550-plus of which are games. As for the Enterprise version, it comes with the Pico Business Store which primarily hosts apps for business and productivity use.

Design and Price

The primary design difference between the two is that the Enterprise has a front-facing matte-white finish which caters to a more professional business environment. The Pico 4 Ultra has a gloss-black finish for its more consumer-oriented buyers.

Considering the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise’s specialized business features, it is priced at around €100 higher than the consumer version. The Enterprise version is priced at around €700 whereas the Pico 4 Ultra has a recommended retail price of around €600.

Final Thoughts

While both the Pico 4 Ultra and Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise are similar in design and capability, their software is not the same. The Pico 4 Ultra is geared toward a consumer audience and is, primarily, an entertainment system. On the other hand, the Enterprise version is specifically designed with the business user in mind, offering a host of business-oriented apps and features.
