Leading AR smart glass brand, Vuzix, showcases a new innovative AR device as an extension to their leading enterprise AR brand: Vuzix Shield. The new pair comes with an advanced miniature microLED (uLED) and binocular waveguide lens design to deliver unparalleled display fidelity, coupled with noise-canceling and safety certification.

New premium AR glasses for enterprises from Vuzix

Vuzix, one of the top manufacturers of smart glasses and augmented reality (AR) technologies for the consumer and enterprise markets, shows at CES2022 an enterprise-focused AR headset in the Shield category.

The announcement of the Shield came only a day after the company announced the latest device in its M-Series lineup the M400-C. The new device is called Vuzix Shield™ Smart Glasses, and differentiates itself through its unparalleled display fidelity from Vuzix’s uniquely designed waveguide lens technology: binocular, thin and light, safety certified, and noise-cancelling: overall targeting factory and construction workers.

As Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix, says, “The Vuzix Shield Smart Glasses were designed to be optically see-through and deliver the best-in-class in enterprise performance… This is our first product incorporating our latest uLED display engines and advanced waveguide technologies with vastly improved optical performance”.

The new device from Vuzix has already received two awards for their leap in innovation from Consumer Technology Association, granting the AR glasses two CES® 2022 Innovation Awards Honoree. Namely the binocular diffractive lens design is pointed out to enable its thin and light form factor. While also contributing to the superior screen fidelity.

As we have seen with the lower manufacturing costs of the waveguide lens technology, the new Shield uses Vuzix’s in-house designed binocular diffractive waveguide. A new lens design that enables a lightweight and slim profile to wear on top of prescription glasses. Furthermore, the diffractive waveguide design provides minimal display hazing and rainbow effect. While the lens technology itself is simpler to mass produce due to its laser-etching production method. As opposed to alternative lens design which use moulding and glueing.
