The Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise is set to replace the Pico 4 Enterprise which was first unveiled in late 2022. The Ultra comes with a number of upgrades compared to its predecessor but it’s not superior in every way.

On that note, this article will look at the changes that come with the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise compared with its predecessor.

Table of Contents

  • Enhanced Mixed Reality Sensors on the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise
  • Lack of Eye and Face Tracking on the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise
  • New Pico Motion Trackers Compatible with Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise
  • Notable Spec Difference Between Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise and Pico 4 Enterprise
  • Greater Affordability of the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise
  • Final Thoughts: Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise vs. Pico 4 Enterprise

Enhanced Mixed Reality Sensors on the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise

One of the main external differences between the two is that the Ultra has two 32MP color see-through cameras compared to the Pico 4 Enterprise’s one 16MP camera. This will enhance the MR (mixed reality) experience on the Ultra with higher-definition surroundings combined with virtual elements.

Lack of Eye and Face Tracking on the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise

With the Ultra’s focus on MR, it no longer has the eye and face tracking cameras that came with its predecessor. These cameras were primarily made to enhance social interactions by accurately portraying the user’s facial expressions on a VR avatar.

New Pico Motion Trackers Compatible with Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise

The Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise is compatible with Pico’s new motion trackers, allowing for accurate full-body movement tracking which will be especially useful for high-precision applications such as firefighter and CPR training. While it looks like the motion trackers will also be compatible with the Pico 4 Enterprise, due to it not having the same level of MR capability as the Ultra, the motion trackers are clearly better suited for the Ultra.

Notable Spec Difference Between Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise and Pico 4 Enterprise

While both headsets share the same display resolution, refresh rate, and size allowing for a similar VR viewing experience, due to the Ultra’s enhanced processor, it has a 62% increase in pixel render quantity compared to its predecessor—which will translate to smoother and higher-quality viewing experiences.

When it comes to computing power, the Ultra comes with the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip over its predecessor’s Gen 1—which boasts 20% CPU power, 250% GPU power, and improved AI sensors. Additionally, the Ultra comes with 12 GB of RAM vs its predecessor’s 8 GB of RAM. The additional boost in power and performance means that more applications can be opened at once and demanding apps will run more smoothly.

The Ultra comes with a larger battery—5700 mAh vs 5300 mAh; the larger battery will help compensate for the additional power of the Ultra and should give it the same or better battery life than its predecessor (up to 3 hours) with the added bonus of greater performance.

Additionally, the Ultra is compatible with Wi-Fi 7 compared to the Pico 4 Enterprise’s compatibility with Wi-Fi 6. Wi-Fi 7 is 2.4x faster than Wi-Fi 6, allowing for greater transmission speeds and more devices to be connected to the same network at once.

Greater Affordability of the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise

While the Pico 4 Enterprise is priced at around €900, the Ultra is priced at around €700. This makes the Ultra a more desirable headset for businesses planning on buying multiple devices.

While the Ultra does lack eye and face-tracking capabilities, these features are not essential in an enterprise environment and the greater focus on MR capabilities is a worthy trade.

Final Thoughts: Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise vs. Pico 4 Enterprise

Both the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise and the Pico 4 Enterprise come in a similar form factor along with the same enterprise-level capabilities with access to the PICO Business Suite and compatibility with APK files.

Where they differentiate is in power and focus. The Ultra comes with greater processing power and battery life along with an emphasis on MR—hence its dual see-through cameras. On the other hand, its predecessor lacks the same level of MR capability and instead offers eye and face-tracking features.

Other than a lack of eye and face-tracking features, the Ultra is a clear upgrade and with its lower price point, is ideal for enterprise use.
