Overall, the bHaptics Tactsuit X40 is a highly user-friendly haptic feedback vest that’s easy to set up and use. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gamer, the X40’s intuitive controls and simple setup process make it a breeze to use and enjoy.

Power and performance

The bHaptics Tactsuit X40 features 40 strong haptic feedback motors. 20 ERMs (Eccentric Rotating Mass vibration motor) are located on the front and 20 more on the back. Each of these motors can vibrate individually, allowing developers to create different shapes and patterns that correspond to in-game events. This level of precision adds an extra layer of immersion and realism to the gaming experience.

With the bHaptics Player you are able to change the strength of these vibrations from 0 all the way up to 400%. This is comparable to a controller rumble all the way up to your chest being shaken intensely. Because there are plenty of ERMs, it is quite easy to locate where an in-game event triggered the vest. This is especially helpful when playing VR shooters.

The vest also has the ability to enhance the music-listening experience which gives it an extra kick. However, we did notice some delay when using the vest with music, but when playing games, there was virtually no delay at all.

As previously mentioned, the bHaptics Tactsuit X40 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 18 hours. This extended battery life is made possible by the vest’s massive 9800 mAh integrated Li-ion rechargeable battery, ensuring that the vest can last through multiple gaming sessions without needing to be recharged.

The battery can be easily charged via a USB-C port located at the upper back of the vest, using the included USB-A to USB-C cable. It takes approximately 5 hours to fully charge the vest, providing users with a quick and convenient charging solution.

Operating system

bHaptics Player allows users to adjust the intensity and audio frequency of the haptic feedback, as well as choose from a range of pre-built feedback profiles. It displays all games that are compatible with the bHaptics Tactsuit X40 natively or with mods with integrated links to the mod pages.

The X40 is designed with intuitive controls that make it easy to adjust the haptic feedback settings while gaming. The bHaptics Player is accessible on the desktop and can be easily tweaked while in VR, eliminating the need to restart the application and allowing for a seamless and uninterrupted gaming experience.

The bHaptics Tactsuit X40 can be easily connected to your phone, gaming PC or Quest via Bluetooth. To use the vest, you’ll need to install bHaptics Player for mobile, Meta Quest or PC. This application allows you to connect the vest to your device and customize it to your liking, ensuring that you can enjoy a fully personalized haptic feedback experience.

While the main focus of the vest is gaming, it is also capable of enhancing the music listening experience. However, as previously mentioned, there is still some work to be done in this area, as there is some latency when streaming music to the vest. Nonetheless, the latency is not too distracting, and the vest still provides a unique and immersive way to experience music.

The bHaptics Tactsuit X40 comes with a pretty steep price tag of around €600. However, given the quality of the materials used, the impressive battery life and the comfortable design, the vest offers a lot of value for the money. Currently, there is no other competitor available on the market that can match the X40’s features and capabilities.

For those who find the price point to be too high, the Tactsuit X16 may be a more suitable option, priced at €400. The X16, as the name suggests, comes with 16 ERMs, meaning that you may sacrifice some accuracy and strength compared to the X40. Nonetheless, the X16 still provides a powerful and immersive haptic feedback experience that is sure to enhance your gaming experience.

In conclusion, the bHaptics Tactsuit X40 is a powerful and immersive haptic feedback vest that’s designed to take your gaming experience to the next level. With its intuitive software, simple setup process, and powerful haptic motors, the X40 delivers an immersive and engaging gaming experience that’s unlike anything else on the market. For hardcore gamers, the Tactsuit X40 is a must-have accessory that’s sure to enhance your gaming experience and provide you with an unparalleled level of immersion and engagement.
