The HTC Vive Focus Vision was released in late 2024 and boasts two versions: one for consumers, and one for enterprises. Both versions share the same hardware but are differentiated by their software.

On that note, this article will take a deeper look at the HTC Vive Focus Vision’s hardware alongside its respective consumer and business software.

Key Hardware Specs & Features

The HTC Vive Focus Vision offers a standalone VR and XR experience with PC-VR capability as well allowing wearers to use the headset on its own or through a PC. It has a greater FOV (field of view) and resolution than the Meta Quest Pro at 120 degrees and 2448 x 2448 per eye. Though, it does not have pancake lenses like the Quest but instead has Fresnel lenses which are known to have more distorted visuals. However, it will still offer a high-resolution viewing experience.

When it comes to power, the HTC Vive Focus Vision is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 and 12 GB of memory, giving it plenty of juice to run more demanding apps and perform multitasking capabilities, like having multiple apps or windows opened at once. Additionally, the headset comes with 128 GB of storage and up to 2 TB of expandable storage, which is more than enough for heavy consumer and enterprise use.

The last worthwhile feature to mention is its hot-swappable battery which is not a very common feature to find on similar headsets. A hot-swappable battery means that the battery can be switched while the headset is in use without any interruption. In theory, this allows the headset to be continually used as long as there is always a fresh battery available.

Enterprise Features on the Business Edition

While the consumer edition has many of the standard entertainment-based apps and features, the business edition is packed with enterprise-level apps and features. With the Vive Business+ license, the headset gains enterprise features like Kiosk Mode which locks users to a designated experience (e.g., sampling a designated app).

The Vive Location-Based Software Suite is a major feature that enables large-scale tracking allowing, for example, multiple wearers to use VR features in the same pre-designated area. This feature is great for creating simulator training environments.

Other features include API (Application Programming Interface) access for greater compatibility with custom-made applications. Remote device control, management, and monitoring are also available along with a host of other control features designed for easy management and customizable user experiences.

Motion Tracking Uses: Consumer vs. Business Edition

The HTC Vive Focus Vision has integrated eye, face, and hand tracking abilities. With an additional purchase, Vive’s Ultimate Trackers can be used to support full-body tracking. In the consumer edition, these trackers are primarily for social and entertainment uses.

In the business edition, these trackers can be used for more immersive simulations and group experiences. The Focus Vision XR capabilities make it perfect for creating AR (augmented reality) environments with 3D interactive designs or group workspaces.

Additionally, using Vive’s location-based software, a group of business edition headsets in conjunction with Vive’s trackers allow for a number of workers, customers, testers, etc., to interact with each other in a designated area and in a sophisticated VR or AR environment with real-to-life movement. For training purposes, this can be used, for example, to create a more realistic simulated firefighter exercise with multiple trainees.

Final Thoughts: Best Use Cases

The HTC VIVE Focus Vision business edition costs €1,249 versus the consumer edition at around €959. The business edition can be thought of as having everything the consumer edition has plus a host of enterprise-level features and apps.

For businesses that want to be able to manage multiple devices at once, curate customized experiences, and gain access to enterprise-level apps and features, then the business edition is the clear choice and is not that much more expensive considering that the Standard Vive Business+ comes with the headset.

On the other hand, the consumer edition is great for individuals who only need the standard VR and AR capabilities of the headset and have no use for group device management.
